The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, also known as the Polish Owczarek Ninny, most probably descended from ancient herding dogs of Hungary, like the Puli, as well as European herding and mountain dogs. This breed was first discovered in Poland, where it became popular as a herder and guard. With a wirehaired coat of gray or white with black patches, as well as in other color combinations, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog has a circular head and oval eyes that are covered with hair. This shaggy dog makes a very happy pet. Its natural instincts tend to appear at home, as it sometimes herds pets and kids. Further, it can have a strong and independent personality. However, with firm and consistent training, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog can be a loving and warm family member. When it comes to living arrangements, this dog can adapt to apartments, as long as it gets access to lengthy daily walks and off-leash running outdoors. This dog would appreciate the opportunity to explore its surroundings. When it comes to health issues, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are prone to developing epilepsy, deafness, and hip dysplasia. Concerning grooming, it needs frequent brushing, as its coat tends to mat. Professional grooming care would also work wonders for this breed.
