Ann Baker, a Persian cat breeder who is also famed for developing the Ragamuffin breed, created the Ragdoll in the 1960s. She came up with this breed by breeding a white longhaired cat with Siamese and Persian cats. The resulting breed got its name from the myth that says that, like rag dolls, these cats go limp when lifted. With blue eyes and a wedge-shaped head, this cat has a solid body and a fatty pad under the tummy. Born white, some Ragdolls develop light-colored coats with dark points. They have beautiful coats that do not matt or shed too much. When it comes to grooming, combing with a steel comb once or twice a week will help keep it neat and clean. Concerning personality, the Ragdoll is pleasant and easygoing. It likes being held and playing, but it is not demanding about it. It enjoys walking along with family members in the house. A lover of the sound of water, this breed may just enter a shower or tub at home. Because it is such a loving and open breed, it is better to keep the Ragdoll supervised when outdoors. This breed is increasingly growing in popularity.
