Persian
In the 1600s, an Italian visitor spotted longhaired Persian cats in the Middle East. The breed found its way to Europe and in 19th century, it gained popularity in England with Queen Victoria owning a couple of Persians. In the 1800s, this breed entered the United States. With long and lush fur, this cat is thick-bodied. It has a flat face and a round head. Available in a variety of colors and patterns, the Persian breed comes in silver, shaded, tabby, Himalayan, and more. At home, it is calm and easy going. It does well with children and other pets. They like getting attention, but are not demanding about it. They love sitting on the laps of people they enjoy. Persian cats like playing with toys and hanging out with other pets in the family. They are quite selective when it comes to their favorite people, but nonetheless enjoy the company of the entire family. They are not independent cats and enjoy companionship. When it comes to grooming, Persians require a lot of attention, as their long hair is prone to matting. Thus, they need weekly brushing. Their owners need to be patient when it comes to grooming, as it may take over 20 minutes per week.
