According to most sources, the Manx originated on the Isle of Man, off the English coast, centuries ago. According to legend, however, this cat breed is connected to Noah’s ark—Noah shut the door on the Manx’s tail. Even though it is linked to myths and legends, the Manx is among the oldest cat breeds in the world. A sturdy cat with strong legs, it has a very short torso and neck. Both shorthaired and longhaired versions exist, as do cats with short, long, or no tails. The coat comes in a wide range of colors and patterns. The most common are the tabby, bicolor, solid, and color pointed. At home, the Manx loves to keep its family happy. A calm and relaxed cat, it tends to bond with its family members and follows them around throughout the home. Even though it does not like moving around and changing settings and homes, it is a quite speedy when it comes to playtime. It loves playing fetch. It also loves overseeing all activities that go on around it. To do so, the Manx will perch on a shelf and watch what is going on below. This breed is not prone to any major genetic conditions. When it comes to grooming, shorthaired varieties need minimal care, but longhaired ones need brushing around two times a week.
